Hi, I am Karla, architect and designer with a deep love for beautiful things — especially when they’re crafted with heart and purpose. Over the years, my passion for design naturally spilled into the world of product making and handmade crafts. But it wasn’t until I became a parent that this journey truly took shape.

Like many parents, I found myself dreaming up little characters to make my child smile — soft, friendly faces that came to life during playtime and storytime. But as I looked around at the toy box, I started noticing something troubling: so many toys were made from plastic.

 

And I had to ask — what happens to these toys once our children grow up?

Sure, donating is wonderful. But eventually, many of those toys end up in landfill, where they can take up to 500 years to break down.

 

What?!

 

That question changed everything.

In 2023, I began searching for a better way — a gentler, more sustainable path that would still bring joy to children but would not harm the planet they are inheriting. After months of exploring materials and ideas, I found the perfect match:

Merino wool felt — soft, safe, natural, and biodegradable.

 

That is how LIEF Toys was born in 2024 — with a mission to create handcrafted eco soft toys that are kind to kids and kind to the earth.

Each piece is lovingly made in Australia, supporting local makers and embracing a circular economy. We do not mass-produce. Every toy is ethically made, thoughtfully designed, and filled with warmth, character, and care.
